NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN MANAGEMENT PLEASED WITH WORK ETHIC

Reaction to Sunday's game

25 March 2024

Northampton Town Women joint-managers Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams were pleased with their side’s work ethic as they won 2-1 away to Sutton Coldfield Town in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday.

Jade Bell and Alex Dicks scored the Cobblers’ goals as they extended their unbeaten run to four games.

“It was a tough game, and we were better without the ball than we were with it,” Oldfield said.

“It was scrappy, but we were full of character and intensity.

“Winning games at this level is really tough, and we had to dig deep again.

“I’m really pleased that we got the three points.”

The Cobblers travel to Sheffield in a rearranged fixture next week.

“We’ve had five games in three weeks, but the schedule is what it is and we’ve had to manage it,” Williams added.

“The girls have given everything throughout this period.

“Games have been coming thick-and-fast, and we’ve come away with 10 points out of a possible 15 against some quality opposition.

“We had a job to do today, and we battled really hard.”
