Northampton Town Women joint-managers Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams were delighted with their side’s 6-0 win away to Solihull Moors in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Tuesday.
Jade Bell scored four whilst Alex Dicks and Paige Ridley netted the Cobblers’ other goals as they secured a victory at Sixways Stadium, the home of Worcester Warriors Rugby Club.
“I’m really pleased, because the first half was as good as we’ve produced this season,” Oldfield said.
“There was meaning and purpose in everything we did.
“We put ourselves in a really comfortable position at half-time, but in fairness to Solihull they changed shape and made life a lot more difficult in the second half.
“It took us a little bit of time to adjust to that, but we regained control and managed the momentum of the game really well later in the second half.”
The Cobblers travel to Sutton Coldfield Town on Sunday. The fixture is the last of five in the space of three weeks for Oldfield and Williams’ side, who came from two goals down to win the reverse fixture 4-2 at Sixfields Stadium in October thanks to a Bell hat-trick and a strike from Dicks.
“We know it’ll be a tough game, but we’re positive about the way recent results have gone,” Williams added.
“We’ll go into Sunday full of confidence, but we know that they’re a good side with good players.
“They’re riding the momentum of being promoted in a similar way that we did last season, and they’re doing exceptionally well to compete relatively high in the league.
“It’ll be a good game between two good sides, we’re looking forward to the challenge, and we’re confident that we can go there and get a result.”
