IAN SAMPSON HAS ENJOYED FIRST TEAM INVOLVEMENT THIS SEASON

The views of the acting assistant manager

Northampton Town interim assistant manager Ian Sampson says he has enjoyed working in the first team environment after the departure of Colin Calderwood in October.

Sampson stepped up from his role as academy manager after the departure of Colin Calderwood in October and has relished the opportunity.

"I have really enjoyed being involved," he said. "It is always nice to be part of a successful team but doing this role is something I didn't expect at the start of the season. I was originally asked to help out for a few weeks, then until the end of the season and when we get to the end of the season we'll sit down, have a chat and see where we go.

"It has been really good and I have really enjoyed it. Hopefully I have added something and been of use and I need to say a big thank you to Graham (Biggs) and Julie (Delauney) for keeping things running so smoothly in the academy while I have been helping with the first team."
