Louie Moulden and Harvey Lintott came into the Cobblers side for the midweek trip to Leyton Orient with new signing, experienced defender Liam Moore, named on the bench.

After a cagey start from both sides in East London, Ethan Galbraith fired over with the first attempt of the night for Orient before Moulden, making his first full EFL appearance, made a good save to keep out a header from a tight angle.

In a half of very few clear cut chances, Ollie O’Neill’s cross/shot on 35 minutes put Orient in front but the Cobblers got themselves back on level terms in first-half stoppage time, Marc Leonard with an unstoppable strike from 20-yards.

A scramble in the Orient area early in the second half saw efforts from Jon Guthrie, goalscorer Leonard and Will Hondermarck before Ben Fox came on for Dom Gape.

Shaq Forde put Orient back in front just before the hour-mark, Moulden making a good initial save to keep out a fierce strike from half-time substitute Rob Hunt but Forde was in the right place at the right time to follow-in the re-bound.

Moulden then made a terrific save to deny Idris El-Mizouni as the home side looked to make it 3-1 while Galbraith made a vital block to prevent Appere having a clear sight on goal.

The Cobblers drew level for a second time on 77 minutes, Kieron Bowie with an instinctive strike into the bottom corner after some good build-up play involving Fox, Pinnock and substitute Tony Springett.

Ruel Sotiriou headed home from a corner to put Orient in front for a third time but the Cobblers weren’t behind for long thanks to a good turn and finish in the box from Tyreece Simpson.

With the score now at 3-3, Hunt rattled the bar for Orient before a well-placed Pinnock slipped as he was about to get a shot off at the other end.

Sotiriou spurned a chance for the O’s as the game headed into seven minutes of stoppage time but with that time almost up, substitute Sotiriou fired home to win it for Orient.
