JON BRADY READY FOR CHALLENGE OF AFC WIMBLEDON

The views of the Cobblers boss

13 February 2023

Jon Brady has been looking ahead to Tuesday night’s home clash with AFC Wimbledon and says he expects the visitors to be a well drilled, well organised side, having only conceded one goal in their last five games.

“AFC Wimbledon have a strong solid shape and I’m sure they will make it tough for us to break them down but we have to be clever and bright in what we do,” he said.

“They are very organised in what they do but they have threats as well. We know it will be tough as all games are at this level and we have to make sure that we are at our best.

“It’s a tight league, every team has something to play for and the results at the weekend showed that, five of the games were draws and four others settled by one goal. We weren’t at our best on Saturday but we showed good character to come back.

“I don’t want to be going a goal down in games but the character of the group is not in question. The work ethic and work rate has been excellent but just because we have been in the top three for most of the season we have no divine right to win any game. We need to do the basics right first and foremost and then we have to be better with the ball to unlock teams.

“We have to work hard to create goals, teams make it difficult for you and if you look at AFC Wimbledon’s recent results their clean sheet record is fantastic. They are a tough team to break down and we need to be at our best on Tuesday night.”
