The Northampton Town under 18s came from behind to win 2-1 at Southend United in the EFL Youth Alliance on Saturday morning.
Jack Connor scored a brace in the second half to secure the victory for Shane Goddard's side.
"It was a good performance and I felt we created the better openings in the game," said Goddard.
"We knew this would be a tough game, this was the third meeting the teams this season and every game has ended a goal either way.
"I was really pleased with the boys. It was the perfect way to bounce back from the Charlton game and it was a good show of character. The boys can be very proud of themselves."
The under 18s round off 2021 with a trip to Leyton Orient next week.
