AIDY UPBEAT ABOUT IMPROVING PERFORMANCES

14 September 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

With Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale describing Northampton Town's performance as "phenomenal" and "the best team he has seen this season," in his post match press conference, Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was left to reflect on the 2-1 loss to the Grecians.

“We will play a lot, lot worse than that and win games,” he said.

“The simple fact is that Exeter were clinical and we weren’t but you look at our overall performance and there were a lot of positives.

“We probably had five or six times the chances that Exeter had but you have got to take those chances.

“I’m pleased with a lot of things and there were some good performances out there today both individually and collectively.

“We created lots of chances but at the moment it doesn’t seem to matter what we do, we’re not getting what we deserve.

“We just have to keep working hard and keep persevering, I’m convinced we are at a tipping point in our development now and we’re definitely not too far away.

“We conceded a goal that we shouldn’t have conceded right at the end of the game but really we should have been out of sight by that point.

“It’s irritating but we must be upbeat because we are in a far better place than when I first arrived.

“We’re not that far away, we’ve just got to stick at it and I’m sure we will be in a much happier place come the end of the season.”
