ROB PAGE RELISHING UNDERDOGS TAG AHEAD OF WEST BROM TIE

23 August 2016

Rob Page previews Northampton Town v West Bromwich Albion

Cobblers boss Rob Page is looking forward to Tuesday night’s EFL Cup second round tie against West Brom at Sixfields.

“I’ve got a group of lads who want to go and compete against a good Premier League team and it’s a fantastic opportunity for them,” he said.

“We are confident going into the game and it’s pointless approaching any game in awe of the opposition. We respect them, of course, they are Premier League players, but we are looking to win.

“We are the underdogs but there are always upsets in the cup, it happens every year and there is no reason to say that it can’t be us.

“The pressure is off, we are just going to play and the message to the players is to go and grab the opportunity with both hands.

“We have created limited chances in our two home games but the chances we have created I expect us to take. We’ve shown from a defensive point of view that we are solid and well organised but it’s the other end of the pitch where we need to improve.

“We have got the foundations but we need to be braver on the ball.

“It’s still early stages of the season and we will improve but while we’ve not been at our best we’ve still been picking up points which is a good sign. We are not losing games while we are not quite at it and we know there is room for improvement.”
