Northampton Town Chairman Kelvin Thomas has reflected on a good season for the club.
The Cobblers finished 14th in Sky Bet League One, a finish only bettered three times in 57 years, and the Chairman said it was another season of progress.
"We did very well," he said. "A lot of people tipped us to go down but we were comfortably safe and it was a good season for us. We made progress on and off the field and you could certainly call it a decent season.
"We made some special memories over the season, we won some games that will stick in the memory and fans have enjoyed watching us. The players have given their all and the coaching staff and Jon have done very well. We had some losses along the way but we bounced back from those well, we showed good character and now we have to kick on again.
"60 points, 14th place in League One with a new stand on the way shows the club is in a good place, we now have to try and take it further on and off the field, and we are looking forward to that.
"We are planning well for next season. Those discussions never really stop. We have looked at the numbers, and our focus is on doing what we do. Budgets help of course but it is not all about budgets. We beat some clubs who had a bigger budget than us and we lost to some who had a smaller budget than us. For next season we will have a bigger budget than we started last season with, it will be as big if not bigger than the budget we ended the season with. We are always having discussions about the future and how we approach things but we will do things as we always do, sensibly and in the best interests of the club, on and off the pitch.
“We are progressing off the pitch while also making progress on the pitch and we should be proud of that. The club is in a good place."
