As a then member of the Northampton Town Academy, Max was added to the first team squad for a game at Shrewsbury Town in September 2020 before making his first team debut away at Crewe in December that same year.

Max signed his first professional contract in May 2021. Northampton born, he is the son of former Cobblers defender Sean. Joind Kettering Town on loan in August 2021 and then Brackley Town on loan in February 2022. Scored his first senior goal against Bradford City in April 2023 and signed a new contract in June 2023. Joined Aldershot Town on loan in September 2023 before making a similar move to Woking in January 2024.
