Northampton Town signed defender Akin Odimayo from Swindon Town in July 2022 after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed compensation package.

Odimayo arrived at Sixfields on a 2 year contract having made 76 appearances for the County Ground outfit. Odimayo started his career at Reading, playing one first team game before making the move to Swindon Town in the summer of 2020. In his first season he was voted the supporters player of the season, playing 30 times in Sky Bet League 1. He signed a new contract at Swindon in the summer of 2021 and played 35 times in 2021/22 as the Robins made the League 2 play offs.
