Northampton Town secured back-to-back wins with a 2-1 victory at home to Cambridge United in the reverse fixture in November.
The Cobblers broke the deadlock shortly after the interval when Kieron Bowie capitalised on a defensive mix-up and passed into the empty net.
Sam Hoskins converted Patrick Brough’s cross via the woodwork at the end of a slick passing move to double the lead five minutes later.
Gassan Ahadme halved the deficit going into the final quarter-of-an-hour, finishing the rebound following Max Thompson’s initial save.
However, the visitors’ hopes of a late equaliser were ended when Paul Digby was shown two yellow cards in quick succession.
