SKY BET LEAGUE ONE

Ninth-placed Northampton Town travel to sixth-placed Oxford United in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.

TEAM NEWS
Cobblers manager Jon Brady is uncertain whether any of his injured players will return at the weekend after Ali Koiki, Tyler Magloire, Akin Odimayo, Sam Sherring, Ben Fox, Jack Sowerby and Danny Hylton were all unavailable for selection last week.

“We are waiting on one or two for the weekend,” Brady said.

“Saturday might come a bit too soon for those players, but we will just have to wait and see.”

The squad has been boosted by the loan signings of forward Tony Springett from Norwich City and goalkeeper Louie Moulden from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“We realised we needed to add to our front-line, and we feel Tony is someone who fits our style quite well,” Brady added.

“We feel he will be a really good addition for us. He wants to develop his game by playing more, and through his performances he has the chance to do that here.

“Louie is a talented young goalkeeper who has performed very well during the first half of this season at Rochdale.

“He will support and challenge Lee Burge, and we want to have that competition.

“We do give youngsters game-time, and we love developing young players.”

Tyreece Simpson scored a 97th minute winner as Northampton Town won 2-1 at home to Oxford United in the reverse fixture last month.
Kieron Bowie hit the post three minutes into the second half, but the forward headed Mitch Pinnock’s cross into the bottom corner to open the scoring with his fourth goal in six games shortly afterwards.
Stanley Mills was brought down by Patrick Brough in the area on the hour mark, allowing Cameron Brannagan to smash home from the penalty spot to equalise for the visitors.
However, the Cobblers secured all three points with virtually the last kick of the game as Simpson nodded past ‘keeper James Beadle from Pinnock’s free-kick.
The victory was the hosts’ fifth win in seven league games.
