Jon Brady is under no illusions about the quality of the opposition as he previews Tuesday night’s trip to Charlton Athletic.
“Charlton have made a lot of signings in January and it looks like they are really pushing hard,” he said.
“They have been aggressive in the market in trying to show their intent and they may feel they can still make the top six.
“You can’t get away from what they have recruited, they have signed some top, top players and they have been on a sticky run but we are hopeful that they don’t start turning things around before Tuesday night.
“We deserve to be at this level and we are proving that at the moment but we have to keep doing that consistently.
“We wanted the game at Oxford to go ahead and the groundstaff there had been doing everything that they could but the pitch was just too hard in places and you couldn’t have played on it. It was frustrating but it was one of those things."
Speaking about the new deal he signed last week to remain as Northampton Town manager, Brady said:
“I’m delighted to have signed a new deal, we are in a good place at the moment as a club and hopefully we can continue that curve.
“We’ve got continuity, I want to be here and hopefully the players want to be here now and in the future as well.
“I’m really grateful for the connection we’ve built up with the supporters, first and foremost we wanted to be authentic and genuine ourselves and we want the players to replicate that in their performances. I feel they have done that for the most part and I feel there has been a real togetherness between ourselves and the supporters.
“We are working ever so hard to first and foremost keep the club in League 1 and if we can do that then we will see where that can take us.”
