Jon Brady provided an update on his squad ahead of Saturday’s visit from Wigan Athletic.
Sam Sherring is still sidelined and Saturday is also likely to come a bit too soon for Sam Hoskins but Lee Burge is expected to return to the side.
“Sam Hoskins is just getting back out on the grass and we are still monitoring Sam Sherring day by day but he is probably still a few weeks away,” said the Cobblers boss.
“Our injury situation has been tough and we are constantly assessing the squad but there is nothing close to a conclusion for us in terms of transfers at the moment.
“What the players have done so far this season has been brilliant and they have put the club in a great position where we can take our time and we can be fussy but the players need to make sure they maintain that and keep pushing on.
“As a manager you are always trying to improve the group, that's my job, and we will see what happens over the next few weeks.
“Max Thompson has gone back, he has probably played more games for us than he perhaps thought he would but I thought he had started to hit a real good run of form in the last few games.
“That shows the development potential we have, we’ve helped him and he’s helped us and that's why Premier League clubs trust us with their players but Lee Burge is back fit and he has been looking fit and strong in training.”
