Jon Brady previews Saturday’s home game against Wigan Athletic, and says the squad are looking forward to returning to action.
After four games in ten days, the squad have had a twelve day break, and Brady says that has been put to good use.
“We had a little break after the Cheltenham game and that gave us a chance to rest some bodies but we’ve prepared hard for Saturday and the boys are looking forward to it,” he said.
“The Christmas period was tough and we were absolutely delighted to get nine points from twelve but we don’t want to sit back on that, we need to keep driving forward.
“We’ve tried to get the balance right over the last ten days, hopefully we have done but Saturday will tell.
“We are pleased with our position and we are ahead of the curve but the ultimate goal for this football club in my opinion is to retain our League 1 status.
“In my opinion to do that would be a better achievement than promotion last year and we are working hard to try and achieve that.
“I thought Wigan acquitted themselves really well against Manchester United on Monday. We had a tough battle up there earlier in the season and we know that they have some very good players at this level.
“We had some constraints back then with fitness and injuries but we are in a different place now and we are really looking forward to Saturday.”
