Northampton Town Women joint-manager Josh Oldfield was satisfied with his side’s 3-1 win at home to Kettering Town in the Northamptonshire FA Women’s Cup semi-finals on Sunday.
Alex Dicks scored a brace and Kim Farrow netted the Cobblers’ other goal as they progressed to the final of the competition.
“Credit to Kettering because they were difficult to play against and threatening at the other end,” Oldfield said.
“We needed to be patient, but we didn’t play at the required speed in the first half.
“Even then, we created a few really good opportunities that we didn’t take.
“It was a case of settling down at half-time and identifying how we could add speed and quality to our final actions, and we did that quickly after the restart.
“It’s disappointing to give a goal away in the way that we did, but other than that it was a decent performance.
“We controlled the game, and I’m really pleased overall.
“We didn’t make it to the final last year, which was hugely disappointing.
“We’re looking forward to competing for the trophy again, because that’s something we aim for every season.”
