NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN MANAGEMENT DUO PLEASED WITH WIN AT NOTTS COUNTY

Reaction to Sunday's action

5 February 2024

Northampton Town Women joint-managers Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams praised their side’s performance as they won 6-0 away to Notts County in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday afternoon.

Kim Farrow and Alex Dicks both scored braces whilst Paris Mallon and Paige Ridley netted the Cobblers’ other goals as they defeated the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division champions.

“Today’s performance and result were really satisfying,” Oldfield said.

“We weren't quite where we wanted to be at the top end of the pitch in the first half, but generally we were in the ascendency.

“We were totally in control in the second half, and some of our patterns were really good.

“The speed we moved the ball through the thirds, the situations we were creating and our finishing were all positives.”

The Cobblers travel to Sheffield next week. Dicks, Farrow and Jess Evans scored the Cobblers’ goals in a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture in November.

“We enjoyed a couple of good performances and results up there last season, but we're under no illusions that it's going to be tough,” Williams said.

“They’ve had a change management and their results are steadily improving.

“We'll give them the respect they deserve, but today’s performance is a really positive way to build into next week.”
