Northampton Town Women won 6-0 away to Notts County in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday afternoon.
Kim Farrow and Alex Dicks both scored braces whilst Paris Mallon and Paige Ridley netted the Cobblers’ other goals as they defeated the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division champions.
Joint-managers Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams made three changes to the team that won at home to Brackley Town in the Northamptonshire FA Women’s Cup quarter-finals a fortnight ago, as Katie McLean, Mia Richards and Dicks replaced Holly Mayfield, Ridley and Mallon in the starting lineup.
The Cobblers created the better chances in an even opening period, and they opened the scoring five minutes before the break when Dicks played the ball across goal and Farrow finished from close range.
The visitors made their dominance count in the second half, with the forward curling into the far corner from Jade Bell’s cutback to double her tally and the lead on the hour.
The Cobblers were awarded a penalty for handball a few minutes later, and Dicks stepped-up to place the spot-kick into the bottom corner and extend the advantage.
The forward nodded substitute Laila Channell’s cross home at the far post to add her second and her side’s fourth going into the final quarter-of-an-hour.
Two subs combined as the visitors made it five soon after. Ona Ndefo’s shot across goal was pushed away, and Mallon followed-in to turn home the close-range rebound.
Ridley, another sub, hooked Fay Noble’s cross over the ‘keeper and into the back of the net to complete the scoring late on.
Oldfield and Williams’ side travel to Sheffield next week. Dicks, Farrow and Jess Evans scored the Cobblers’ goals in a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture in November.
