NORTHAMPTON TOWN v BRISTOL ROVERS

SIXFIELDS STADIUM
SKY BET LEAGUE ONE

12th-placed Northampton Town host 10th-placed Bristol Rovers in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon.

TEAM NEWS

Jon Brady is hopeful that one or two players might be ready to make a return for Saturday’s visit from Bristol Rovers.

“We are hopeful one or two might be back for Saturday,” he said.

“I wouldn’t be able to guarantee anything and if players are back it might be limited minutes

“Lee Burge has injured his hamstring and he will be out for a period of time. Sam Sherring has had an ankle problem, we are monitoring him and hopefully he is not too far away.

“We’ve had to chop and change our backline a lot this season and we need to make sure that we are ultra-organised even when we make changes.

“We need to be more solid and that’s an area where we need to improve.

“We have probably had our best return in points this season when we have had a settled side but that’s not the case at the minute and we have to find a way to deal with that.

"But that's all part and parcel of football and we will carry on attacking, trying to entertain and to try and win as many games as we can."

Northampton Town lost 2-1 away to Bristol Rovers in the reverse fixture in October.

Chris Martin back-heeled Aaron Collins’ cutback in off the post to open the scoring for the hosts after 10 minutes.

Antony Evans doubled the lead from the penalty spot on the half-an-hour mark after Lee Burge brought Collins down in the area.

Manny Monthé headed home Mitch Pinnock’s free-kick to halve the deficit on the hour, but Bristol Rovers held on to secure a narrow victory.
