Ian Sampson was a happy man as he reflected on Saturday’s 3-1 home win over Bristol Rovers, a deserved three points secured thanks to goals from Patrick Brough, Mitch Pinnock and Marc Leonard.

“It’s a great result and we are back on track to our target,” he said.

“The players have shown great character all season and whenever we have had a setback they have come back really well.

“Sam Sherring was prepared to put himself on the line for us today and you need those type of characters. I think he came off with a bit of cramp and hopefully he will be okay.

“We made a good start and I felt we controlled the game without the ball in the first half. We had decent possession and when we had the ball we put together some good passages of play.

“It was a terrific finish from Leonard and it was a great bit of improvisation from the players which we like to see.

“Its always nice when you win a game of football and hopefully we can produce the goods for Jon again on Tuesday night.”
