NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN TO PLAY FINAL MATCH OF THE SEASON AT SIXFIELDS

Stadium to host Notts County fixture

3 April 2024

Northampton Town Women will play their last match of the 2023-24 season at Sixfields.

The Cobblers’ FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture at home to Notts County on Sunday 5th May 2024 will be played at the stadium, kicking-off at 2pm.

Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams’ side have secured a top-five position in their second campaign in the fourth tier, and the team are looking to finish as high up the table as possible.

Kim Farrow and Alex Dicks both scored braces whilst Paris Mallon and Paige Ridley netted the Cobblers’ other goals as they won 6-0 away to Notts County in the reverse fixture in February.

Their opponents were promoted as East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division champions last season, and they are battling relegation as the current campaign nears its conclusion.

Scott Loughran, Women’s and Girls’ Development Officer at the Northampton Town Community Trust, said:
“We are very excited to play at Sixfields once again.

“It’ll be the fourth time we’ve played there this season, and it’s another opportunity for supporters to come together and celebrate the achievements of both the men’s and women’s teams this year.

“We loved making our last Sixfields fixture a special occasion, inviting the players’ inspirational people onto the pitch in celebration of International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day.

“We’re looking forward to making more memories this time around.”

Josh Oldfield, who recently surpassed 150 games as Cobblers joint-manager, added:
“The opportunities to play at Sixfields are very special, and they’re so important for us a club.

“We work incredibly hard as a group of players and staff, and we love to share that with our fans at Sixfields.

“It's been a tough but enjoyable season, and we have continued to develop both on and off the pitch.

“We've settled well in at Fernie Fields Sports Ground, and continued to compete on the pitch whilst developing a vibrant, exciting squad.

“We’ve also had more matches at Sixfields than any season before, which has been a pleasure.

“We’re excited to welcome everyone to Sixfields for the final game of the season, and we hope that everyone has a great day.”
