JOINT MANAGERS SATISFIED WITH WIN FOR NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN

Reaction to Sunday's game

2 April 2024

Northampton Town Women joint-managers Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams were satisfied with their side’s 3-0 win away to Sheffield in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday.

Jade Bell scored a brace whilst Laila Channell netted the Cobblers’ other goal as they extended their unbeaten run to five games.

“We’re pleased with three goals, a clean sheet and three points, but we were below our standards performance-wise,” Williams said.

“We played better football in the second half, but there were still moments that we should have capitalised on.

“In terms of results, we’re on a good run of form, and we have momentum behind us.

“Every opponent presents a different challenge, so we’re not taking anybody lightly, but we want to win every game.”

The Cobblers host Leafield Athletic next week. Kim Farrow scored a brace whilst Jade Bell and Alex Dicks scored the Cobblers’ other goals as they won the reverse fixture 4-0 in November.

“We’re really happy with the outcome today, but we have to be better if we want to achieve what we want to going forwards,” Oldfield added.

“We have to maintain our standards individually and as a collective.

“Leafield have had a turbulent season, but their performances and results have improved recently.

“We’re expecting a battle, but we fancy ourselves to perform at a high level.”
