In partnership with the European Football for Development Network, we have joined their Climate Captains campaign with the aim to ‘Utilise football to empower local actors to contribute to issues around sustainability, environmental protection, and climate change, in turn creating greater awareness’.
The fan survey is the first stage of the campaign which will then move onto a round-table discussion before climate actions are implemented at the club. The survey is available here and can also be completed in person at Saturday’s match vs Exeter City. Everyone who completes the survey will go in to the draw to win a pair of signed Jon Guthrie boots!
The project will explore what football clubs across Europe can do to reduce their own environmental footprint and support their fans and communities in the climate transition. EFDN will provide anonymised findings from the survey to the EFL Trust and the club partners to be used in reports, presentations and advocacy campaigns.
This will be shared with the corresponding football club in order to announce the prize. This field is voluntary. With the exception of the first name and email address of the prize winner, the data that EFDN will share will be completely anonymous. You must currently be 16 or older to participate in the research. Before you decide to participate in the research, please take the time to read the information below, which will explain why we are conducting this research and what it involves.
The purpose of this research is to explore what clubs can do to reduce their own environmental footprint and support their fans and communities in the climate transition. The findings from this research will help organisations participating in the Community Climate Captains project understand how football clubs can begin to support their communities on the transition to a zero emissions future.
EFDN will share the anonymised findings with the organisations participating in the Community Climate Captains Project. Each participating football club will receive anonymised data relating to their club and will not receive data relating to other participating clubs. Only the personal data of the prize winner (email address) will be shared with the relevant football club in order to announce the prize. This field is voluntary. With the exception of the email address of the prize winner, the data EFDN will share will be completely anonymous.
Your participation in this research will help participants of the Community Climate Captains project to identify the climate/environmental justice challenges that football fans face and understand how football clubs can work with their fans and community to progress climate action locally.
EFDN and EFL Trust will develop a report of the summarised survey findings which will be publicly available.
