The Cobblers have achieved Bronze in the EFL Equality Code of Practice.

Initially launched in 2012, the EFL’s Equality Code of Practice was revamped to become a multi-level accreditation scheme at the start of the 2022/23 season, which will see every one of the 72 clubs assessed on their EDI practices by the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, and it is this assessment that has seen the club achieve bronze status.

"We have always been proud of our diversity and the way we represent all members of our community and we are pleased this award recognises that," said Chairman Kelvin Thomas.

"There is still a long way to go but historically, all the way back to Walter Tull, Northampton Town has a proud reputation of diversity and inclusivity and that work continues with the recent ED&I survey that we undertook with our fanbase and the launch of the Proud To Be project which has seen Ygor Santos become the club's first ever Fan Engagement Officer in the Community Trust. Ygor is engaging with the local community in order to attract a diverse range of supporters and participants. He is already starting to identify and engage with different community groups and members of the community to understand the current barriers certain areas of our community may have to accessing the football club and Community Trust’s activities. This is a ground breaking project for us and one we are very excited about as it really highlights the progress we are making in this area."

EFL Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, David McArdle said: “Our 72 clubs represent people from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds and its absolutely vital that they are representative of those communities whether that be on the pitch, in the boardroom or in the stands.

“It’s particularly encouraging to see clubs striving for excellence in this area and highlighting what can be achieved. Across the EFL the progress being made is very encouraging and the EFL will continue to support and empower all clubs to make a positive impact on their communities and the wider game.”
