Jon Brady named an unchanged team for the visit of Wycombe Wanderers. Aaron McGowan was back on the bench with Will Hondermarck unavailable for selection after picking up a knock. Joe Low, son of former Cobblers winger Josh Low, started for Wycombe.

Wycombe took an early lead from a Luke Leahy free kick, Richard Keogh adjudged to have gotten the final touch following a scramble in the area.

Mitch Pinnock found Patrick Brough at the back post but the defender volleyed wide in an almost instant response from the Cobblers while a clever corner routine from Marc Leonard presented Sam Hoskins with a shooting opportunity but his effort was well saved by Max Stryjek. Hoskins then had Stryjek on the stretch with a shot that just whistled wide.

Sam Sherring headed over from a corner and Louis Appere shot straight at Stryjek as the Cobblers continued to dominate the first half with Kieron Bowie and Hoskins also going close. Wycombe were posing a threat from set pieces however and Leahy curled a free kick narrowly wide.

Stryjek saved from Hoskins at the start of the second half before a triple change for Wycombe saw the introduction of David Wheeler, Harry Boyes and Brandon Hanlan.

Appere and Leonard both saw shots saved by Stryjek but with the Cobblers still trailing despite their dominance Jon Brady turned to Tyreece Simpson. Manny Monthe, Shaun McWilliams and Harvey Lintott then came on for the final ten minutes with Wycombe still frustrating the Cobblers,

Simpson headed wide as the fourth official signalled an additional eight minutes in which McWilliams made a vital challenge to deny Wanderers substitute Tjay De Barr. Brady threw Max Dyche on up front in a final throw of the dice but the Cobblers couldn’t get the equaliser their performance deserved and Wycombe claimed all three points.
