JOINT MANAGER PRAISES ATTITUDE OF NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN SIDE

Reflections on Sunday's game

2 October 2023

Northampton Town Women joint-manager Liam Williams praised his side’s attitude as they won 5-0 at home to Leek Town in the FA Women’s National League Plate on Sunday.

Jade Bell scored a brace whilst Mia Richards, captain Zoe Boote and Alex Dicks netted the Cobblers’ other goals as they progressed to the second round of the competition.

“We’re pleased with the result and that we’re through to the next round.

“The manner in which we went about it was great.”

“We went back to basics and focussed on working hard for each other, and the girls did that really well.

“We were more than up for the fight, and hopefully that will continue.”

The Cobblers are returning to Sixfields Stadium next week. Their FAWNL Division One Midlands fixture against Sutton Coldfield Town will kick-off at 1:30pm.

NTFC Women season tickets are valid, whilst individual match tickets are available from ntfcdirect.co.uk and on the gate.

“We’re looking to put our league form right,” Williams added.

“We’ve got a newly-promoted side who are full of confidence coming to Sixfields, so we’ll take them head on.

“We’ve got a good record there in recent times, and we want to start moving up the table.”
