Jon Brady is looking forward to the backing of the Shoe Army away support as he previews Tuesday night’s trip to Derby County.

“I believe we’ve got 1,300 - 1,400 fans travelling and we want to put on a performance for them,” he said.

“Derby are one of the bigger challenges in this league but we are at this level for games like this.

“We will be looking to implement ourselves on the game and that’s our focus.

“We know Derby have some good players and they have a top squad but we believe we can compete with anyone at this level.

“We had three fantastic chances against Bristol Rovers in the first half and again towards the end of the game but at this level you have to take those chances.

“We are better than the goals we conceded and we need to cut out those errors. We need to try and score first and that’s what we will be trying to do on Tuesday night.

“There have been some real positives over the way we have played but we need to make sure we are switched on and we need to start turning those performances into results.”

Brady has meanwhile been speaking following Colin Calderwood’s departure.

“Losing Colin is bitter sweet, we’ve had a great partnership together and I consider Col a really good friend," he said.

“It’s a great opportunity for him at Southampton and you can’t deny him that, he goes with my blessing and we wish him all the best.

“Everyone understands the situation and the pedigree Col has, he’s been fantastic for all of us but Sammo helped me at the start of my time in charge here and it’s great to have him back on board.

“Sammo is part of the fabric of the club, he will give us everything he’s got and I’m really looking forward to working with him again.

“As a coaching unit we have worked really well together in the past and I’m sure this time will be no different.

“We will let the dust settle before doing anything and sometimes you have to adjust quickly in football, but I think we are in a good place."
