Jon Guthrie could return to action against MK Dons in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday night.
“We are hoping Jon might get some minutes on Tuesday night and potentially one or two others too,” said boss Jon Brady.
“It’s an opportunity to see how the fitness levels are in one or two and it is really important for us to build towards the weekend.
“One or two are still a little way off and we won’t be taking any risks.
“Jon Guthrie is the main one we want to feed back in and see how he gets on.
“We will have some academy players involved as well and it’s really important for their development.
“One or two are pushing hard to show us what they can do and it’s important for the football club that we keep that connection.”
