The free 12 week successful weight loss programme will return!

Thursday January 25th sees the return of our Female Fit Cobblers programme from 7pm-9pm in the Carr's Bar at Sixfields Stadium.

The Fit Cobblers programme is a 12-week lifestyle behaviour change programme for adults aged 35 to 65 with a BMI over 27.5. The programme is designed to look at tackling bad habits and provide strategies to create long term lifestyle behaviours. Each week participants attend a two-hour long session with the first hour being a classroom-based session looking at key topics such as hydration, nutrition, exercise, food labelling, shopping, takeaways, eating out etc and the second hour is a physical activity session.

What sets Fit Cobblers apart from weight loss programmes is the approach that we take. The programme looks to target the long-term lifestyle of participants and helps them create strategies such as SMART goal setting combined with physical activity to help instil better lifelong habits.

Since the first Female Fit Cobblers block in January 2021, we have engaged nearly 100 women from across the county wanting to take part and change their lives for the better with some seeing up to 10% loss of their own bodyweight, feeling healthier, fitter and more confident about themselves.

Marjorie, who was part of our May 2023 cohort, gives her account:

“From a very young age I have struggled with mental wellbeing, confidence, and social anxieties. Once I joined the programme, I realised that I wasn’t alone, and others were in similar situations.

"Even though it was tough to make changes towards a healthy lifestyle, I make time to fit in 10k steps daily and some Thursdays I wasn’t in the best frame of mind to attend the sessions but once I was there it gave me a much-needed boost to keep going. I was very apprehensive when I signed up to the programme as I am not one to join groups and socialise much. However, from day one the coaches put us at ease, and I managed to complete the course without missing any sessions.

"My aim is to now maintain a healthy lifestyle, keep up with daily physical activity, a healthy weight, and enjoy the company of my new friendships. Hopefully my new lifestyle choices will help me manage my diabetes and high blood pressure which I became aware of following the initial health checks and I would recommend the programme to anyone.”
