Vice-captain Aaron McGowan said this promotion is fully deserved.
McGowan, like a host of others, missed the last few weeks of the season, and he paid tribute to the squad for seeing the job through.
“Its one of the best feelings I’ve ever had and this group deserve it," he said.
“We’ve ended the season with nine players out and I don’t think any other club in the EFL could cope with that but its credit to Jon Brady, Colin Calderwood and the culture they have created at the club.
“The players have given everything they can and I can’t wait to attack League 1.
“We’ve built this belief into the football club and we won’t fear anyone next season."
