As the club’s summer planning for Sky Bet League One continues, Chief Executive James Whiting says the club are in a good place.
“We believe we are going back to League 1 in a better place than we have ever been and what I’m also really proud of this season is the awards we have won as a club and the players like Sam Hoskins and Josh Tomlinson who have been recognised for their achievements,” he said.
“The hard work has already started for next season but the players deserve a celebration. The group has been really together all season and now it’s only right that they can go and have some fun.
“Our planning has been really good and when Keith Curle left we had a real good look as a club at what our strategy was going to be.
“We knew what we wanted as a club in terms of the manager and coaching staff and what we wanted as training facilities.
“On the playing side we wanted to create an identity and we have rewarded the players that have been good for us.
“We go into next season with some really good players under contract for at least the next season if not the next two and that gives us a really good base to build on.
“Every player has contributed this year and we are sad to see some players go. We’ve had some fantastic contributions from players who might have only played a handful of games but they have still played a massive part in what we have achieved.”
