The thoughts of the Cobblers boss

11 March 2023

Jon Brady praised his players as he reflected on Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Hartlepool United, a game where, for the second week running, the Cobblers were on the wrong end of some controversial decisions from the match officials.

“It’s a really frustrating one today,” he said.

“Hartlepool’s goal was off-side and that is very disappointing from the officials. It was a terrible challenge on Jack Sowerby and how that was not a red card I don’t know, it’s a diabolical decision.

“We came here to have a real go and that left us a bit open at the back at times. We had some real good chances in the first half and credit to their goalkeeper who made some great saves.

“Its tough to take and it feels like the whole world is against us at the moment but we are fighting hard and we fought back hard today.

“Credit to Hartlepool they are fighting for their lives and it was a tough game but we had some great chances.

“We had eight players out today, six regular starters but we have found a way. We are fighting against everything at the moment but we had great backing from the supporters and we will need that again on Tuesday night.

“We are not going to give up on this, we believe we can still do this and we will give it everything.”
