PRE-SEASON SET TO BEGIN ON MONDAY

Work to begin with two days of testing at the University of Northampton

23 June 2023

The Northampton Town squad will return to pre-season training on Monday.

The squad will undergo two days of testing at the University of Northampton before spending some time working up at the club's Moulton training ground for the rest of the week.

Jon Brady's side head off to Scotland on Sunday July 2 to spend a week training at St Andrews before returning back to England to continue their work at Moulton.

The Cobblers boss has spoken of a different look to pre-season this time around, with many of the players who were injured at the end of last season being phased back in to training gradually over the next few weeks.

With that in mind, fewer pre-season games have been arranged this time around, with a big emphasis placed upon strengthening and conditioning.

The Cobblers first public pre-season game will be against Leicester City at Sixfields on Saturday July 15th (3pm). That day will also see the club stage it's annual Open Day, the reveal of the new PUMA away kit and be part of a double header with Northampton Town Women taking on Cambridge United Women at Sixfields soon after the Leicester game has concluded.

Birmingham City will be the next opponents, visiting Sixfields on Wednesday July 19 (7.45pm) before Jon Brady's side made the short trip to Brackley Town on Saturday July 22 (2pm.)

The final pre-season game will be away against Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday July 29 (3pm) with the new season set to kick off the following weekend.

The club are also strengthening and restructuring the medical and strength and conditioning departments going into the new season. These changes, together with the addition of the club’s own training building housing physio space, a gym and activation areas up at Moulton, are part of the club's summer improvements in both resources and infrastructure.
