Northampton Town Women progressed to the semi-finals of the Northamptonshire FA Women’s Cup with a 7-0 win away to Thrapston Town on Sunday afternoon.
The Cobblers were dominant as their defence of the competition continued against the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Division One South side.
They opened the scoring with just 30 seconds on the clock, Jade Bell smashing home from close range after Beth Artemiou had two shots blocked on the line.
Artemiou’s cross was turned into the bottom corner by a defender as the lead was doubled inside three minutes.
The midfielder extended her side’s advantage when she drove down the left and slotted home five minutes later.
Kim Farrow half-volleyed home from Sara Wait’s cross to add a fourth on the quarter-of-an-hour mark.
The Cobblers’ control continued until half-time, but they were unable to add to their tally before the break.
Fay Noble won a penalty five minutes into the second half, but Alex Dicks placed her spot-kick off target.
But Northampton did add a fifth soon after, Bell side-footing her second into the far corner from Abbie Brewin’s through ball.
Farrow also doubled her tally on the hour, finding the top corner from a free-kick despite a touch from the goalkeeper.
Brewin rounded-off the scoring going into the final 15 minutes when she curled home from long range.
Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams’ team return to FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands action at home to Lincoln City next week.
Their opponents currently sit in second place, but the Cobblers came out on top in the FAWNL Plate meeting between the two sides in November.
