JON BRADY FRUSTRATED BY SALFORD CITY DEFEAT

The thoughts of the Cobblers boss

7 January 2023

Jon Brady was a frustrated man as he reflected on the 2-1 away defeat at Salford City.

“Our performance in the first half was very uncharacteristic but once we got to grips with the pitch and the conditions I felt we dominated the game,” he said.

“The goals we conceded were poor and that’s not like us but we kept pushing in the second half.

“I felt Josh Eppiah looked on-side for the goal he scored and we also should have had a penalty for handball. And I don't understand how we don't even get a free kick for a challenge that could easily be a red card.

“Our tempo was better in the second half without getting the goals we wanted.

“The disappointing thing from our point of view is that we have given away too cheap goals, we worked hard to get back into the game and when decisions then go against you it is heart breaking.

“Lee Burge felt a twinge in his calf, that’s why he came off at half-time and we will have to assess that.

“I wouldn’t like to put a definite timeframe on Shaun McWilliams and Tyler Magloire but I would hope they would both be back within a month.

“We are in a tough run and there are no easy games at this level but we will keep working hard to get the results and points we need.”
