NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN MANAGEMENT DUO DISAPPOINTED AS UNBEATEN RUN COMES TO AN END

Reaction to Sunday's action

Northampton Town Women joint-managers Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams were disappointed with their side’s 3-1 defeat away to Wem Town in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday.

Alex Dicks scored the Cobblers’ goal as their seven-game unbeaten league run came to an end.

“We controlled the game until we conceded the first goal,” Williams said.

“We were very happy at half-time having been the dominant team.

“We had a couple of chances in the second half and we didn’t take them.

“I would have liked to have seen us maintain our concentration, because that’s where the first goal came from.

“We didn’t manage the next 20 minutes as well as we should have, and that’s something we have to put right.

“We’ll be looking to bounce back in training and next week.”

The Cobblers return to Sixfields Stadium on Sunday. Tickets for their FAWNL Division One Midlands fixture against Sporting Khalsa are available from the ticket office and ntfcdirect.co.uk.

“I’d rather be going into the game with three points, but it’s an opportunity to respond in a big occasion on a big day,” Oldfield added.

“We enjoy these days, and the girls know they need to be better.”
