Jon Brady made four changes for the midweek visit of AFC Wimbledon with a first start for on-loan Ipswich Town striker Tete Yengi. Ali Koiki returned following a one-match ban while Marc Leonard and Harvey Lintott also started.

Sam Hoskins drew an early save from Nik Tzanev at his near post in a bright start from the Cobblers, Marc Leonard also warming the gloves of the Wimbledon keeper in the opening fifteen minutes.

Tzanev made a terrific reaction save to deny Jon Guthrie the opening goal following a Mitch Pinnock free kick as the home side continued to press with the Dons keeper also called upon to keep out a Ben Fox header as the first half reached the midway point.

Ali Al-Hamadi was denied a clear strike on goal by a good block from Guthrie in a moment of danger for the Cobblers but the score remained goalless as the teams left the field for half-time.

Jon Brady brought on Will Hondermarck for his Cobblers debut in a double change which also saw the introduction of Louis Appere, Shaun McWilliams and Tete Yengi making way.

A clearance from Leonard rebounded off Jack Currie into the arms of Tom King before a flowing Cobblers move ended in a Hoskins header being saved by Tzanev.

D’Margio Wright-Phillips came on for Mitch Pinnock while Ben Fox had to be replaced by Jack Sowerby after picking up a knock. Fox had made a terrific block inside the area to deny Dons but despite his best efforts was unable to continue.

A volley from Hondermarck was deflected just wide as the Cobblers went agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock but there was to be no late winner for either side and the points were shared.
