JOSH OLDFIELD PLEASED AS NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN EXTEND WINNING RUN

Reaction to Sunday's game

18 December 2023

Northampton Town Women joint-manager Josh Oldfield was pleased with his side’s 4-0 win away to Leafield Athletic in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday.

Kim Farrow scored a brace whilst Jade Bell and Alex Dicks netted the Cobblers other goals as they extended their winning run in the league to five games.

“It was a convincing performance and result,” Oldfield said.

“Leafield had a couple of forays into our half, but we controlled the tempo of the game and were good with and without the ball.

“We blew them away, especially in the first 20 minutes of the second half.

“We progressed the ball quickly, we were purposeful about our movements and we opened them up.

“Clean sheets are really important, and we’ve been keeping a lot of them recently.

“We defended really well when Leafield did get into the final third.

“Momentum is vital and it feels like it’s all starting to come together now.

“We’re in a good position and we feel like we can push on in the New Year.”

The Cobblers begin 2024 away to Leek Town, having earned comprehensive wins over their opponents in home FAWNL Division One Midlands and FAWNL Plate meetings earlier in the season.
