Northampton Town Women joint-managers Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams were reasonably pleased with their side’s 3-2 win at home to Chesham United in a friendly on Sunday.
Jade Bell scored a hat-trick, taking her tally to 11 goals in six matches, as the Cobblers defeated their FA Women’s National League Division One South East opponents to earn a sixth victory in six pre-season games.
“It was another tough test and another win, which is a big positive,” Oldfield said.
“There were elements that we weren’t so happy with, but pre-season’s about ironing out those things.
“There were some really good things about the performance, and it’s pleasing that we created a large amount of goalscoring chances.
“We could have scored any number of goals on another day.
“We’ll analyse it and have a look at one or two things we need to work on this week.”
Oldfield and Williams’ side travel to Actonians in their final pre-season friendly fixture next week. Their opponents finished third in the FAWNL Division One South East last season.
Williams added: “We’ll approach it the same way we do every week.
“We’ll get some good work done in training and look for a performance and a result.
“Hopefully that will see us move into the season nicely because we’ve built some really good momentum in pre-season.
“It’s tested us, and we expect Sunday to be a good test as well.”
