Northampton Town Women won 3-2 at home to Chesham United in a friendly at Sport Central MK on Sunday afternoon.
Jade Bell scored a hat-trick, taking her tally to 11 goals in six matches, as the Cobblers defeated their FA Women’s National League Division One South East opponents to earn a sixth victory in as many pre-season games.
Bell linked-up with Kim Farrow and smashed home one-on-one to open the scoring early on.
The visitors equalised shortly after, but Bell restored her side’s lead after patient build-up play on the half-an-hour mark.
Farrow and Bell combined again 10 minutes into the second period, the latter getting a touch on the former’s pass to round the ‘keeper and finish into the empty net.
The Chesham ‘keeper injured aggravated an injury suffered in the warm-up whilst making a save soon after and had to be replaced by an outfield player, but it was the visitors who scored the next goal to pull one back in added time.
It proved to only be a consolation as the Cobblers saw out the final few moments to secure another win.
Oldfield and Williams’ side travel to Actonians in their final pre-season friendly fixture next week. Their opponents finished third in the FAWNL Division One South East last season.
