JON BRADY DELIGHTED AS COBBLERS BEAT POSH

The thoughts of the Cobblers boss

Jon Brady was delighted as he reflected on Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Peterborough United, Mitch Pinnock’s incredible 90th minute volley from 35-yards securing a dramatic three points at a sold out Sixfields.

“To do what Mitch did from where he did was outrageous really,” he said.

“I felt we had been knocking on the door but both teams went toe-to-toe today and we’ve just edged it.

“Peterborough are a top side and they made us work hard for it but our work ethic was terrific and I’m pleased to get that first win.

“We grew into the game and got better. We’ve played four of the top eight sides already and it has been a bit of a baptism of fire.

“In the last 15 minutes our fans were incredible and they gave us that extra energy when we needed it.

“Peterborough had one or two moments but to reduce a team of their quality to just one shot on target is an incredible effort.

“I’m still having to make changes and look after players because we are still paying the price for last season. It has been really tough but to get that result today with all those constraints was a huge effort.

“We played with real energy right to the end and that shows our fitness is nearly there.

“Psychologically to get the point against Lincoln in the manner we did was really important for the group and the win today should keep that belief building.”
