Northampton Town club captain Sam Hoskins has signed a new contract with the club, running until the summer of 2026.
The new contract will take Hoskins, the current Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Season, to eleven years at Northampton Town.
Hoskins has enjoyed a glittering career with the Cobblers that has included winning promotion three times, scoring in the game that sealed promotion on each occasion, winning the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Season award, being named the club's Player of the Season as well as being in the top seven appearance makers and being just three goals away from entering the list of the club's top ten all time goalscorers. He scored 22 times last season as the Cobblers won promotion to Sky Bet League One, and has already scored three goals this season, part of a tally of 29 goals in his last 54 appearances.
"We are delighted that Sam has signed his new contract," said manager Jon Brady.
"No praise can be too high for Sam on or off the field. He just keeps getting better and better.
"On the field, his record speaks for itself. He is a key figure for us and he is the sort of player who steps up time and time again when we need him. Off the field he is a real leader in the dressing room and someone the younger players look up to.
“He just keeps getting better and better as his record over the last eighteen months shows. That is no accident, that is down to the hard work he puts in on the training ground and the way he goes about his work. You only have to look at the way he has started this season to see that.
"We made him club captain at the start of the season to reflect the influence and standing he has within the group and we are all very pleased that Sam is happy and settled here enough to commit his long term future to Northampton Town."
Chairman Kelvin Thomas added: "It is rare in modern day football for a player to stay with a club for such a long time, let alone to have the consistent impact upon performances like Sam continues to do.
"This is great news for the club and for Sam. His standing in the history of this club is secure and it is right that we get to pay tribute to that, and as a player he just seems to be getting better and better.
"We were very keen to ensure Sam stayed with the club. He fully deserves this new contract and while the term legend is used sometimes too often in football, Sam deserves all the plaudits he gets for the service he has given and continues to give for the club.
"It says a lot about both Sam and the club that he will have been with the club for eleven years by the time this new contract comes to an end. He already has a glittering list of honours, awards and achievements from his time at the club and hopefully he can add to that list over the next three years."
