JON BRADY - 'A TOUGH DAY BUT WE'LL STICK TOGETHER'

The thoughts of the Cobblers boss

Jon Brady said it was important to stick together as he reflected on the 3-0 defeat at Newport County.

“It was a tough day, we started off quite well and were taking the game to Newport but Aaron McGowan’s injury meant we had to shuffle things around a bit,” he said.

“Akin Odimayo was the only option but the circumstances meant he had to play for longer than he wanted to and he was feeling his hamstring towards the end. Aaron is now in a protective boot and Jack Sowerby had to come off at half-time.

“Their first goal we defended the free kick quite well but to concede from the second phase of play was disappointing.

“We were disjointed in the second half and we are pushing players to the limit where they should only be playing limited minutes.

“We are trying to shuffle things around but we probably just had too many players playing out of position or playing beyond where their levels of fitness were.

“Louis Appere went close in the first half and we created some good chances but losing Aaron was a big blow.

"The game was gone by the end but we didn't think it was a penalty, Harvey got the ball, but that summed up our day."
