The Cobblers make the short trip to Walsall on Saturday. The Cobblers are currently 5th in the Sky Bet League Two at the time of writing, with the weekends opponents currently occupying 13th following a mixed start to Michael Flynn’s first full season in charge at the club.
Going unbeaten in their first four matches of the season, in all competitions, Walsall haven’t picked up as many points as they will have liked in recent matches, with the Saddlers failing to win in their last five league matches.

THE MANAGER: MICHAEL FLYNN
Michael Flynn was appointed by Walsall in February 2022 on a two-and-a-half-year contract, guiding them to a mid-table finish. Flynn had been a success at his previous club, Newport County, guiding them to the play-offs in two of his four seasons in charge, including reaching the play-off final in his final full season in charge at the Welsh outfit.
The summer has been a busy one for the Saddlers and Flynn as he looks to make his mark on the West Midlands side. There have been wholesale changes since the end of last season with 13 players leaving the club and 18 more coming in.
TOP SCORER: DANNY JOHNSON
Danny Johnson has been in fine form for the Saddlers since joining on loan from divisional rivals, Mansfield Town. The striker has made 7 league appearances for his new club, finding the back of the net an impressive 6 times, a record only bettered by Northampton Town’s very own Sam Hoskins!
