JON BRADY PRAISES CHARACTER OF HIS SIDE

The thoughts of the Cobblers boss

24 September 2022

Jon Brady praised his side’s character as second half goals from Sam Hoskins and Harvey Lintott saw the Cobblers come from behind to beat Stockport County 2-1 at Sixfields.

It was a fourth league win on the bounce for Brady’s side who had trailed at the break through Fraser Horsfall’s first half header.

“I’m really pleased with the character of the group,” he said.

“We saw in the second half how much character we’ve brought into the football club, we only got two points coming from behind last year and we’ve picked up seven already from our first ten games.

“Our quality from back to front in the first half wasn’t good and we needed a lot more physicality. We changed things at half-time with Danny Hylton and Kieron Bowie coming on and it really changed it for us.

“We put Stockport on the back foot and I’m really pleased for Harvey to get his first professional goal and it to be the winner.

“We really tested Stockport in the second half, we created some great chances and it must have been a great game to watch.

“We’re on a good run but we won’t get carried away. We have got to keep believing in the things that we are doing.

“We need to look at how we can be better in the first half but we changed it at half-time and turned things around."

Brady has meanwhile provided a fitness update on Tyler Magloire and Shaun McWilliams.

“Tyler has a hamstring injury and he will be out for a considerable length of time. Shaun I’m wary of putting a time frame on but we are hoping he might be back in around three weeks.

“Aaron McGowan and Akin Odimayo are starting to come back but their returns will be phased over time."
