JON BRADY PLEASED WITH PERFORMANCE OF YOUNG PLAYERS

The views of the Cobblers boss

Jon Brady was a proud man as he reflected on the Papa John’s Trophy fixture with Arsenal under 21s.

Josh Tomlinson became the Cobblers youngest ever goalscorer when he put Brady’s side in front early on but the Gunners turned the game around with three goals in the second half.

“We don’t like losing but it was a good work out,” he said.

“We got some minutes into Aaron McGowan and some others who needed that and it was another good opportunity to get some game time for our youngsters as well.

“We had a chance to go 2-0 up at the start of the second half and it was unfortunate for Liam Cross not to get a goal.

“That was a possible turning point and you could see the difference in the second half when we took off some of the more experienced pros.

“We finished with a very young side and Arsenal exploited that.

“For Josh to get his first senior goal at 16 is an incredible achievement for him and it was a really special moment for all of the academy.”
