JON BRADY LOOKING FORWARD TO TEST AGAINST ARSENAL YOUNGSTERS

The views of the Cobblers boss

18 October 2022

Jon Brady has been looking ahead to Tuesday night’s Papa John’s Trophy fixture with Arsenal under 21s at Sixfields, kick off 7pm, and says the game could be coming at a good time for some of his squad.

“It’s another great opportunity for some of the youngsters to showcase their talent and we will also give some minutes to the players who need them,” he said.

“Some of the youngsters we’ve got in the group could have maybe gone out on loan this season but because of the injuries we’ve had we’ve needed them.

“Arsenal are a real high level side and we look at this game in a positive way and a really good opportunity for those youngsters to play against a top side.

One player who is set to get a run out on Tuesday night is right-back Aaron McGowan.

“Aaron will certainly play some minutes,” confirmed Brady.

“It’s been a long road back for Aaron since he came off against Exeter in April but he has been working extremely hard and he has been totally dedicated to come back as soon as possible.

“He battled through last season and he maybe did himself a bit more damage by doing that but Aaron is a real warrior.

“The players that have come in for Aaron have done well but there is no doubt that he is huge for our team and we have missed him.”
