JON BRADY - 'ABSENCES CAUGHT UP WITH US A LITTLE'

The thoughts of the Cobblers boss

Jon Brady says the game management has to be better but admits there were certain factors to be aware of as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw against Sutton United.

Goals from Marc Leonard and Mitch Pinnock had the Cobblers 2-0 up at half-time but Sutton fought back in the second half to leave Sixfields with a point.

“I think everyone is frustrated with the result and our game management has got to be better,” he said.

“We looked tired in the second half, we haven’t used injuries as an excuse but we had seven players out tonight and it has taken its toll.

“It was a heavy game on Saturday and we needed to make changes but there are probably players who are playing more minutes than they should be at the moment.

“At 2-0 up at half-time we should see the game out but Sutton came out in the second half and put us on the back foot.

“We could have nicked it in the end but Sutton did well in the second half. I’m not sure if we did enough to win the game but at the end of it we still come away with a point and we are in a good position.

“Hopefully we will have some players back for Saturday and we have got to try and rest up now and make sure we are ready for what will be another tough challenge against Newport.”
