East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division champions Northampton Town won 5-0 against Leicester City Ladies at Spencer Community Trust FC on Thursday night.

Abbie Reboul, Rachael St John Mosse, Alex Dicks, Leah Cudone and Sara Wait scored the Cobblers’ goals as they remained unbeaten in the league going into their final fixture of the season away to Notts County next Thursday.

The Cobblers dominated the first half and opened the scoring with a great strike after 12 minutes, Reboul half-volleying home from 25 yards.

St John Mosse was denied by the goalkeeper one-one-one and her follow-up was headed off the line midway through the opening period.

Reboul came close to doubling her tally on the half-an-hour mark when she turned Beth Artemiou’s cross over the bar from close range.

St John Mosse rounded the goalkeeper but her shot agonisingly rolled across the face of goal and Favour Omenazu’s first-time effort from long range was blocked on the line as the Cobblers looked to increase their advantage before the break.

They did double their lead deep into first half added time when the ball fell to St John Mosse six yards out, and she fired into the roof of the net to score a deserved second goal.

The hosts’ control continued after the interval. Bianca Luttman smashed the crossbar with a 25-yard free-kick and substitute Cudone shot across goal and wide from the edge of the six yard box in search of a third goal either side of the hour.

It came a few minutes later when Dicks, another substitute, beat the goalkeeper at her near post with an effort on the angle.

Cudone almost added a fourth with a quarter-of-an-hour to go, spinning her marker in the area and shooting over. She did make it four soon after, taking the ball down on her chest and slotting into the bottom corner.

Fay Noble was close to finding the top corner with a strike from 40 yards late on, a few minutes before her corner was turned home by Wait to complete the scoring.
